Shydaea Townes

Bush School of Texas A&M
Class of 2017

Shydaea Townes is a 2015 graduate from Wichita State University. While studying there she earned a B.A. in international studies and a B.A. in French. As an undergrad she became a member of the community service board on campus and was an active volunteer servicing her fellow peers, girls scouts camps, and the community. She also joined Christian Challenge, a youth ministry on campus that invites and encourages students to come fellowship. In 2012 she studied abroad in Orléans, France for two academic semesters studying grammar and phonetics, while also teaching conversational English to university students.

In effort to further her interests in international affairs, she completed a Department of State internship in 2014 at the Embassy of Ottawa in Ontario Canada. While there, she coordinated an entrepreneurship program for Canadian students, wrote blog pieces for the Embassy website, and updated Embassy social media sites. At the Bush school, she plans to join the National Security and Diplomacy team, where she can hone her passion for public service.
