Erica Symonds is a Baltimore native and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she majored in political science and international studies with a focus on global security. Erica spent a semester abroad in Buenos Aires studying human rights. While abroad, she interned at Poder Ciudadano, supporting its mission to increase accountability and transparency in Argentina. She has also interned in the U.S. Senate and the Wisconsin State Legislature.
Erica’s passion for public service led her to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Baltimore City following graduation. In this role, she coordinated a financial literacy program for individuals living in transitional housing and community service activities for students at the University of Baltimore. Prior to starting her graduate studies, Erica worked for a boutique political research firm in Washington, D.C., where she focused on a broad spectrum of domestic and international policy areas in addition to conducting opposition and due diligence research.
