Class of 2018
Christie Gingras began her studies in public administration and international relations at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University in the fall of 2016. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in international development, particularly in gender and youth development, with USAID.
Christie graduated magna cum laude from Miami University of Ohio in 2013 with a B.S. in Education and a minor in Spanish. While at Miami, Christie served on the Dean’s Student Advisory Council and volunteered with the American Cancer Society, leading Miami University’s Relay for Life. She was selected to be a member of Miami’s Urban Teaching Cohort, a specialized cohort of students who receive additional training in community integration and urban youth development.
After graduation, Christie applied to and joined the Peace Corps, serving for 27 months as an English teacher in a small town in western Mongolia. During her service, Christie coordinated multiple government grant-sponsored projects and collaborated with international organizations such as World Vision, UNFPA, and GIZ. Her secondary projects focused on the development of life skills and gender equity in local youth. She speaks Mongolian and Spanish.
