Sydney is pursuing her Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy, concentrating on International Environment and Resource Policy and Development Economics. She is currently on leadership for the Fletcher Energy and Environment Club and Managing Print Editor for the studentrun journal, The Fletcher Forum of World Affairs. Previously, she worked in Indonesia on public health issues, which was followed by internships with the Department of State, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene, and Senator Elizabeth Warren. Prior to starting at Fletcher, she returned to Indonesia as a FulbrightHays Fellow for intensive cultural immersion and advanced Indonesian training. Sydney is particularly interested in the relationship between development and environmental sustainability, which is an area she hopes to contribute to in a career as an ESTH Foreign Service Officer.
The summer of 2016, Sydney will be spending the first few months working for La Fundacion para la Innovacion Agraria in Santiago, Chile, where she will determine new benchmarks and recommend tools for Chile’s climate change mitigation and adaptation plan. The end of the summer, she will work at the Inter American Development Bank in Washington, DC researching crime and violence as it relates to environmental security in the Caribbean.
