Stephanie Martone

The Fletcher School at Tufts University
Class of 2017

Stephanie is focusing on gender analysis in international affairs and development economics at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy with the hope of furthering gendersensitive policies in development programs. She is spending the summer of 2016 interning with Mercy Corps in Tajikistan, where she will use gender analyses to better design and monitor gendersensitive interventions that encourage men to be allies in Mercy Corps’ USAIDfunded maternal and child health programs.

Prior to Fletcher, Stephanie worked with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services on multilateral relations, where she supported global health diplomacy efforts on behalf of the U.S. Government across the United Nations system. She also served as a Community HIV/AIDS Outreach Project Volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in South Africa from 20112013 and worked to build the capacity of communitybased organizations and develop harm reduction programs targeting adolescents. Before joining the Peace Corps, Stephanie was a civil servant with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights & Labor and launched HumanRights.gov—an interagency effort to compile and document all U.S. Government human rightsrelated efforts.

Stephanie grew up on Kent Island, MD and received her Bachelors degree from American University in international relations with a concentration in international development.
