Dr. Paul Light is the Paulette Goddard Professor of Public Service at New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and one of the nation’s leading experts on federal government human resource issues. Prior to assuming his position at NYU, Light was affiliated with The Brookings Institution, Washington, D.C., where he was the Douglas Dillon Senior Fellow, founding director of the think tank’s Center for Public Service, and vice president and director of its Governmental Studies Program.

Professor Light is the author of 18 books, including “A Government Ill Executed: The Decline of the Federal Service and How to Reverse It,” published in 2008 by Harvard University Press. Light has a BA from Macalester College and a MA and PhD from the University of Michigan.
