Jennifer Valdez plans to pursue a career as an International Affairs Consultant in an intergovernmental organization like the United Nations upon completing her joint Masters degree in Public Administration and M.A in International Relations from Syracuse University, school of Maxwell. Ultimately, Jennifer aspires to advocate for troubled societies abroad by implementing international social development programs to provide relief to communities in despair.
Prior to graduate school, Jennifer interned at the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), White House Liaison Office in D.C. where she was able to assist with everyday operations at HUD with the purpose of executing the Secretary’s agenda as well as assisting with drafting reports to be sent to the White House Presidential Personnel Office (PPO) summarizing the highlights of the agency. Jennifer was also able to provide assistance with the vetting process of new political appointees.
Upon completion of her 5 month internship, Jennifer graduated from California State University Northridge with a B.A in Sociology, Work and Society. Later she went on to work for the Jewish Vocational Service Non Profit Organization as a Case Manager and Service Worker. In that capacity, Jennifer helped ran a county program called GAIN by providing employment related services to help participants reach their ultimate goal of becoming financially independent from government assistance. As a Service Worker Jennifer provided financial assistance among other support services and as a Case Manager she was in charge of overseeing over 150 cases by tracking progress and documenting reports.
