James Trent

James is a first-year master’s student at the University of Maryland School Of Public Policy. While studying Mandarin Chinese in Dalian, China, he volunteered in the disaster relief effort in Sichuan, China. Trent has also interned at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington, D.C., where he assessed future options for intergovernmental cooperation in Central Asia.

He is particularly interested in China’s growing international presence and is currently assessing the impact of China’s increased regional influence on Afghanistan’s reconstruction efforts. He has a bachelor’s degree in International Politics from Juniata College.
