Andrew Chira is a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. State Department. He joined the Department in 2013, and is currently in training as he prepares for an assignment in Seoul, South Korea as an Economic Officer. He previously served in Kingston, Jamaica as a Vice Consul. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Andrew worked as a Senior Consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton working with clients in the Department of Defense. He has also worked for the Cyber Policy Office in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and Shearman & Sterling.
Andrew is particularly interested in Sino-U.S. Relations and security on the Korean peninsula. He has spent a significant amount of time in China, studying abroad in Beijing in the Associated Colleges in China program. He speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, and is studying Korean.
When Andrew is not pondering national security issues, he is spreading the gospel of Ultimate Frisbee around the world.
