Edith Yuh

Class of 2016

A 2015-2016 Dean’s Fellow at UCSD’S School of Global Policy and Strategy, Edith graduated from the University of California, Davis with honors in political science and music performance, a Chinese minor, and a desire to effect change in the global community. Inspired by the multicultural yet collaborative communities in her native Silicon Valley, she spent four summers in youth development overseas; Edith has facilitated aquatics activities for U.S. Navy families in Naples, Italy and has led summer camps for K-8 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

In 2012, Edith became one of the first Chantal Paydar Fellows and interned in Beijing and Xi’an, China for CEO Global USA, a non-profit organization that hosts summer camps to encourage leadership and community service among China’s young adults. There, she organized camp activities for China’s minority youth and translated written and oral lectures between Mandarin and English, serving as a liaison between Chinese and foreign volunteers.

Prior to attending IR/PS, Edith taught high school English in rural Japan through the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, where she became impressed by the ability of the arts to cross cultural boundaries. Edith is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, with a basic knowledge of Japanese and French.
